About
U R There Photography – Barn Boutique is the work of Michigan landscape photographer Sheryl L. Sutter.
What began in 2016 as a private act of healing along the backroads of Michigan’s Thumb has grown into a singular archive of nearly two thousand photographs. Drawn to the weathered barns, open fields, and quiet rural places that define this landscape, Sheryl began making images as a way of shifting focus — a personal practice of attention, resilience, and presence.

Over time, that private practice became the MI Eye on the Thumb Collection: a contemplative body of work that honors the structures and landscapes that have stood as silent witnesses across generations. The photographs do not simply document a vanishing rural world. They preserve its spirit — offering a meditation on endurance, memory, and the quiet grace of belonging.
The Barn Boutique grew from this same impulse. Each print, tile, cutting board, and clock is a way of carrying a fragment of that landscape into daily life. The work remains rooted in authenticity, reverence for agrarian heritage, and the belief that beauty often resides in what has been weathered by time.
Sheryl continues to photograph and curate from her home in Lapeer County, expanding the archive while remaining true to the original spirit of the project: to look carefully, to remember, and to stay present.
